What we notice when we read these

It's not an ordinary trip. And guests go out of their way to say so.

When you read enough of these reviews, you stop seeing “trip of a lifetime” and start seeing what's underneath it. Guests come for the gorillas. They leave writing about a dinner in Entebbe where meeting the team felt more like seeing old friends. About the village where their guide grew up, where strangers were welcomed with dancing and food. About a farewell at the airport no one planned but everyone remembers. Uganda surprises nearly everyone who arrives — but only if the introduction is right.

More than just a trip

We (a couple from Austria) came across Kikooko while searching for a travel agency that offered truly personalized trip planning in Uganda—and it couldn't have been a better choice! Communication was flawless from the very beginning, and any remaining questions were cleared up during a phone call with the owner, Warren. Upon arriving in Entebbe, we were welcomed at the office with a short check-in and then greeted by the entire team, who took the time to introduce themselves, and afterward we enjoyed a wonderful dinner together. It felt less like meeting with a company and more like spending an evening with friends—great conversations about politics, delicious food, and a glass of wine. The perfect start to our journey! The next day, we set off early with our guide, Schindishi, who told us all about Uganda's history, culture, and way of life. He seemed to know an interesting detail about every animal we encountered. Although the itinerary was carefully tailored to us (Gorilla-trekking, Chimpanzee-trekking, Lake Mburo...), he made small adjustments along the way when he noticed our interest in experiencing the "real" Africa—adding visits to local bars and restaurants. The lodges were very special and extraordinarily beautiful. This was our first guided trip (we are usually independent travelers), and we were truly impressed. When it was time to leave, several team members even came to the airport to say goodbye. I genuinely felt like being part of a family. We heard the phrase "Everything is possible in Uganda" many times—and with Kikooko, we truly believe that's the case. We can highly recommend Kikooko!

Inspiring Uganda — 21-day Safari exploring wildlife and country

Highlights for the two of us were gorilla trekking in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and in the Mgahinga NP, chimpanzee trekking in the Kibale Forest NP, and the game drives in Queen Elizabeth NP and Lake Mburo NP (also hiking). Chris, as a professional ranger, spotted and identified (without binoculars) all the birds while driving slowly through the parks, finding lions and all sorts of wild animals. Chris spoke excellent English, was always calm, helpful and very friendly. We felt very safe driving with him. Warren proposed the tour and adapted it to our wishes, focusing on birding, wildlife, hiking and experiencing Uganda and its people. It turned out to be an excellent schedule and superb adventure. We enjoyed the beauty of local craftwork, wooden decorations and paintings from Arcadia Lodge. The final birding trip to the Mabamba Swamp—with a big variety of different waterbirds—was the trip highlight. The Shoebill showed himself in the morning. Before our return to Switzerland, Warren surprised us with a farewell sundowner trip on the original African Queen on Lake Victoria.

It doesn't get any better

Five years ago we were very lucky to meet Warren, the warm and dedicated owner of Kikooko Uganda, at the holiday fair in Bern. His enthusiasm for his home country was infectious, and today we can say that he exceeded all our expectations. Alex, Warren's younger brother, was our guide for our 14-day trip through impressive Uganda. His warmth and extensive knowledge of nature and wildlife made this trip an unforgettable experience. Every day we experienced a highlight and Alex always had a surprise in store. It was just worth every penny. From the first moment we were welcomed with open arms and in the end we were almost royally farewelled. The entire Kikooko team was full of warmth and hospitality—in a way that touched us deeply. We came as travelers and left as friends. No doubt: one day we will return to Uganda and see this wonderful country and team again.

A super organized, unforgettable trip through Uganda

We have been traveling the world for many years—but the mountain gorillas were still missing in our bucket list, so Uganda had been on the agenda for some time. At FESPO in Zurich we met Kikooko and Warren, who put together our desired program in a speedy and perfect way. In January 2025 we started our 21-day journey with Kikooko. Our driver-guide Alex looked after us optimally from the first to the last minute and surprised us positively with his local "surprises". This trip was not an "ordinary tourist trip", because we learned a lot about Land&People, and with the respective, very early departures and intense daily contents it was certainly not a "rest holiday". On our big round trip (Jinja, Sipi Falls, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls NP, Kibale NP, Semliki Hot Springs, Queen Elizabeth NP, Ishasha, Bwindi NP, Mgahinga NP, Lake Bunyoni, Lake Mburo, Kampala) we saw the fascinating nature with the many wildlife (some of them new for us), got to know the typical life and culture of Uganda better—including through the very impressive visit to Kisoro, the birthplace of Warren and Alex—and stayed in many good lodges. Everything worked out fine and we would like to thank Alex and the entire Kikooko team once again for the excellent organization and execution of this special trip.

Uganda — Pearl of Africa

Just back from Uganda with a suitcase full of wonderful memories, we would like to thank the whole team of Kikooko Africa Safaris wholeheartedly for the super organized trip. Two years ago we met Warren (owner and founder of Kikooko Africa Safaris Ltd.) at Fespo and took a flyer with us. This year we stood at his stand again and then it was clear to us that we wanted to do our Uganda trip with Kikooko. Planning by email with Aminah went smoothly. All our requests were met and our questions were answered within a very short time. We made a 14-day tour of Uganda. With Rogers we had an excellent driver and guide. He took us safely from place to place, explained a lot to us and drove safely over the sometimes very adventurous roads. We were overwhelmed by the diversity of nature—constantly changing dreamlike beautiful landscapes, the many laughing children waving at us along the way, and the friendly people made this trip as special as the many wildlife in the national parks. We visited Murchison Falls, took a Nile cruise, visited Queen Elizabeth National Park and then did the Unpacked: chimpanzee and gorilla tracking. We continued with a visit to Warren's home village, where we were welcomed by the inhabitants like royalty. It was sung, danced and eaten together at the end. This day is also unforgettable. Via Lake Muhele and Lake Mburo we went back to Entebbe. This journey will remain unforgettable for us! We can recommend Kikooko Africa Safaris with a clear conscience!

Uganda — beautiful and extremely diverse country full of highlights

At the Kikooko Africa Safaris stand at the Bern Holiday Fair, we were swept away by the enthusiasm with which Warren and Ivan present their country Uganda in an unconventional way. So we spontaneously decided to take our next trip to Uganda with Kikooko Africa Safaris. Thanks to Warren and Aminah, the organization and correspondence were very professional, uncomplicated and binding in English (or optionally German)—as was the booking and secure financial processing. Our special request to visit the Ssese Islands was perfectly organized. It couldn't be better. We can only recommend them. Uganda—the pearl of Africa—rightly deserves this name. Our tour guide Alex was simply great and introduced us to his country very professionally with great attention to detail. In addition to the planned tour, he always had great, unforgettable surprises ready. We felt absolutely safe at all times. He is 100% professional and attentive. He shared his inexhaustible knowledge of his country, the culture, the diverse nature, the beautiful mountain landscapes, lakes and the unforgettable flora and fauna with us. Thank you very much Alex! We experienced a lot in the 3 weeks and went home with many new ideas about what Uganda still has in store for us. We will definitely come back and would be happy to be accompanied again by our friends from Kikooko and especially Alex!

Uganda by Kikooko — a unique experience

Uganda's tourist potential is vast and to a large degree unspoilt. Kikooko as a whole and our tour guide Alex in particular gave us a truly unforgettable insight into the wonders of this amazing country. We were treated as friends and got to see the amazing variety of flora and fauna, enjoyed great places to stay and eat and, above all, experienced the friendliness of the Ugandan people. Every detail of our journey was perfectly planned and organized, and Alex displayed his passion for his profession and the country. Great experience, excellent service, passionate people!

More than just a safari — an immersion in the beauty of Uganda

Our 15-day adventure took us from Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park (Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary) — Kibale Forest National Park (Chimpanzee Tracking) — Queen Elisabeth National Park — Ishasha — Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Gorilla Tracking) — Kiyebe — Mghahinga National Park — Lake Mburo National Park and back to Entebbe. A special thanks goes to our guide Alex, who with his warmth, commitment and deep connection to his country, the people and animals, has made our trip an unforgettable experience. Every day was a little adventure — full of impressions, encounters and many emotions. Everything was perfectly organized and yet there was always time for spontaneous wishes and surprises. We were also able to experience unforgettable moments in Warren and Alex's home village. The warmth, cheerfulness and hospitality of the people moved us deeply and will always be in our hearts. This trip was more than just a safari — it was an immersion in the culture, life and incredible beauty of Uganda. We are grateful for every single moment and can wholeheartedly recommend Kikooko Africa Safaris. I'll see you again — for sure.

19-day Uganda adventure we will never forget

We met Warren and Kikooko Africa Safaris at the FESPO holiday fair in Zurich and were immediately impressed by this friendly tour operator. We received very personal and professional advice and all our wishes and concerns were catered for. In June 2025, we finally set off on our 19-day Uganda adventure and, to say it straight away, it was an incredibly wonderful trip that we will never forget. The travel programme was very well balanced and all the accommodation, our guide and the programme points were carefully selected. From our point of view, there is absolutely nothing that could have been done better. Everything also worked perfectly during the trip, from the first to the last day. We are very happy that we booked with Kikooko Africa Safaris and appreciate the very personal and unique service. We can recommend Kikooko Africa Safaris without reservation and thank them wholeheartedly for this wonderful trip. We have taken Uganda into our hearts.

Unique experience with ingenious tour operator Kikooko

We joined Project Uganda at the request of a friend and were simply surprised from the start. The first impressions were tremendous; what we experienced in the first 3 days already exceeded our expectations for the entire trip. On the one hand, the country has so much to offer, but what Kikooko showed us through our brilliant guide Alex is how people live, what moves them—by coming into contact with the people there again and again. Special was certainly the visit to the village where our guide grew up, where we were spoiled with dancing, food and joy. We really appreciated that Alex was able to assess us correctly as a group, in order to throw in some surprises and sometimes slightly deviate from the program. A surprise trip was just more awesome and we always appreciated the options offered. So we are full of praise for Alex and also Kikooko as a whole. We also appreciated very much that when we came back to Entebbe at midnight for our flight, we were allowed to use the rooms and showers in the guest house. An all-in-all impressive experience that Kikooko made possible for us.

As individual as you are!

Our first contact with Kikooko was at FESPO 2024 in Zurich. We were greeted at the stand by Warren and the team. Warren was very friendly and offered us a tailored trip model within just a few days. We booked enthusiastically. During the planning phase we were in regular email contact with Warren and Aminah at the Entebbe office. After arriving in Entebbe just before Christmas, we were warmly welcomed by Ivan and taken to our hotel near the airport. Our adventure began! The journey took us through some unforgettable highlights: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale National Park (with chimpanzee tracking), Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (with Mountain Gorilla tracking). At the end of the trip, Kikooko offered us a guest room in their office building so that we could freshen up and store our suitcases before traveling home—an exceptional service we had never experienced in our years of travel. It was hard to say goodbye. A part of our soul will always remain in Uganda.

Uganda — an unforgettable adventure

We got to know Kikooko Africa Safaris at a holiday fair. We explained our wishes and Warren requested a detailed quote for us. After a thorough exchange, we set off on a 3-week Uganda adventure with Kikooko. Thanks to Warren and Aminah, the organization and correspondence were very professional, uncomplicated and available in English or German. Our tour guide Alex was simply great—he introduced us to his country with great attention to detail, always had unforgettable surprises ready, and shared his inexhaustible knowledge of the country, the culture, and the diverse nature of Uganda. We can highly recommend Kikooko. They are successfully organized and delivered on everything they promised.

Kikooko

We first became aware of Kikooko at the holiday fair in Zurich. At Warren's booth, we were warmly welcomed and learned with enthusiasm about Uganda. The impressions immediately increased our interest. Our tour guide Alex drew an excellent guide and took us safely through the different regions, fascinating us with his extensive knowledge of the country and its people. The most impressive stages of our journey were in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. We can highly recommend Kikooko. The trip was expertly organized and delivered exactly what was promised.

Uganda — Safari

We met Kikooko and Warren at FESPO 2023 and his stories immediately thrilled us. In October 2024, it was finally time. We made a 3-week eventful Uganda tour. It was perfectly organized by the local travel provider Kikooko. Ivan our driver drove us safely through his country, and from Amos, our German-speaking guide, we learned a lot about land, inhabitants and animals. The lodges were all beautiful and well located. We can only recommend Kikooko and his entire team.

Uganda with Kikooko — Go for it!!!

Uganda is really a very beautiful and diverse country. The landscape diversity is impressive. Savannah and tropical rainforests are geographically close together. In the morning you can still be on the savannah (Queen Elizabeth Park) before arriving in the evening in a tropical mountain rainforest (Bwindi Forest). Chimpanzees, mountain gorillas, the typical flora and fauna of the savannah are all doable in just 10 days of travel! Thanks to Kikooko's good networking in the region, I was also able to visit a local community. A beautiful experience that you won't forget anytime soon! Warren and the whole Kikooko team planned and made possible a wonderful trip for me. A big thank you! The selected lodges and camps were always idyllic and comfortable. Roger, my guide, and the other people from Kikooko that I got to know were always professional, friendly and above all very generous. Thanks so much for everything and hopefully for a next time!

A safe driver who knows the country, the people and the wildlife well. Conclusion: an unforgettable journey in the truest sense of the word. Beautiful landscapes, hardworking but very friendly people, the big five, chimpanzees, gorillas and many other apes and birds. A really rewarding journey.

Exceptional Uganda — perfectly organised and executed

We became aware of Kikooko at the holiday fair in Zurich. A small stand with warm-hearted people who told us enthusiastically about their country, the people, the animals and the landscapes. We had a trip put together, booked it and spent two wonderful weeks in Uganda. Ivan, whom we had already met at the holiday fair, picked us up at the airport and drove us safely through the country for two weeks. He knew a lot about the country and its customs, knew every route, all the localities, countless bird species and had a solution for every wish. The planning with the local agency went smoothly and without complications, the team is very committed and even Warren, the owner, took the time to meet us. The lodges were wonderful and beautifully situated and the programme was varied and exciting. We felt very comfortable at all times and can highly recommend Kikooko and Uganda.

Kikooko is surely the best travel agency for Uganda

We undertook a special individual trip in Uganda. Even the planning of the trip exceeded my expectations. Our special requests were taken into account with a lot of patience and professionalism. I could always count on prompt answers. Warren and Aminah have put together a great travel program for us. After being picked up at the airport by our driver and guide Ivan and taken to our hotel, Warren personally briefed us the next day for the trip. Ivan is a great driver, which is important on the roads of Uganda. We have always felt safe. Ivan has great knowledge as a guide and we felt totally comfortable in his company. All lodges were of a very good standard. The highlights of our trip were the chimpanzees and gorilla trekkings, but we were no less impressed by the wonderful hospitality and warmth of the people we met. When we drove through the villages, the children waved at us. Also visiting the village in the countryside was a special and impressive experience. We can highly recommend Kikooko as a travel agency and Uganda as a real pearl of Africa.

Versatile, extraordinary, exciting, educational

I was travelling alone, picked up at Entebbe Airport by a very sympathetic driver and taken to a guesthouse before heading to Bwindi National Park the next day. The same driver accompanied me throughout—he was an excellent driver. Once at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge I was able to rest and enjoy a fine dinner. The next day we started early for a gorilla habitation experience: I spent 4 hours with the animals. It was an impressive experience. The next day we drove to Bunyonyi Lake. I was always accompanied by my driver/guide, also on the ride on the lake. Everything was explained to me. I spent another 5 days in the capital. Although I no longer had activities booked, the travel agency continued to accompany me to sights. We also made a trip to Victoria Lake. Kikooko Africa Safari is a very serious and dedicated travel agency that knows its country in every detail. Next year I will take them on a safari (Big Five) and a trip to Murchison Falls. I'm looking forward to it today.

The ultimate African experience

In spring 2022 we decided we were planning our trip to Uganda. What was initially just a dream—the idea of visiting the mountain gorillas—turned into the best vacation of our lives thanks to Warren's professionalism and the competence of the entire Kikooko team. Our driver Alex was not only always there to anticipate and overcome surprises but offered us a wide variety of activities that made the journey remarkable. Then finally the trip started. We were picked up from the airport and immediately greeted by a very pleasant, welcoming guide. The next day Warren even came by himself to greet us in person. The gorilla trekking and chimpanzee trekking were of course very special and incredible experiences—truly once in a lifetime. The photo opportunities were everywhere: from the wildlife in the national parks to the simple but colorful life in the villages. It was hard to say goodbye. A part of our soul will always linger in Uganda from now on. Thank you, Kikooko, for a trip we'll never forget.

Amazing, unforgettable 11 days in Uganda and Zanzibar

Our first contact with Kikooko was at FESPO 2019 in Zurich. We discussed for a long time meeting the most beautiful Uganda and the vision of this small but very friendly company. Our guide Alex was really amazing—from the beginning we were 100% confident about Kikooko. Warren arranged the whole trip and adapted it around our wishes perfectly. We can only highly recommend Kikooko for a perfectly organized and friendly trip to Uganda.

There is so much to discover — pure adventure!

The trip planning with Warren was done via email. Our round trip took in Murchison Falls National Park and Queen Elizabeth NP with mountain gorilla trekking. During the trip we felt very well looked after. Travelling as a woman was no problem at all. We were always greeted and asked after in a very friendly manner. The lodges were well-equipped and clean. Food was always served and was excellent. Currency: Shillings can be exchanged on arrival and it's worth looking for the best exchange rate. Photography: the power supply in the lodges was always good and all devices could be charged easily. Gorilla trekking: a gorilla trek is VERY demanding. From early in the morning the gorillas are spotted—the tracking itself can range from 40 minutes to 2 hours. The animals were extremely close, with no behavior like those from a zoo. Going to the gorillas was in a group of just 6 tourists per family. There is no path in the forest, just very steep slopes with lots of bushes. I strongly recommend gaiters, walking sticks, long pants, and sturdy shoes. An outstanding trip with Kikooko. Every promise they made was kept.
