DMC Resources

Planning Reference for Our Partners

A working guide to permits, timing, and logistics across our three core destinations. We're building out a full downloadable resource hub — in the meantime, here's what our team confirms on every quote, plus what's coming next.

Operator Guide: Uganda, Rwanda & Tanzania

Permit prices and regulations change — the figures above reflect our most recent confirmation and are always re-verified before we issue a quote.

Uganda

Gorilla trekking, chimp tracking, and the Nile — our home base.

Permits

  • Gorilla & chimpanzee tracking permits (Bwindi, Mgahinga & Kibale)

See the official Uganda Wildlife Authority rate table below for current and upcoming pricing. Since March 2026, all permits must be booked through a licensed Ugandan tour operator, with full payment due at time of booking (the 7-day reservation hold has been suspended) — we handle this end-to-end for our partners.

Best Time to Visit

June–September and December–February are the driest months, making trails firmer for trekking. April, May, and November are wetter but bring lower permit costs and fewer crowds.

Getting There

Entebbe International Airport is our primary hub. Bwindi is roughly 8–9 hours by road from Entebbe, or about an hour by internal flight to the Kihihi or Kisoro airstrips — we coordinate whichever fits your clients' itinerary and budget.

Rwanda

Volcanoes National Park and the Land of a Thousand Hills.

Permits

  • Gorilla trekking permit (Volcanoes National Park)

$1,500 per person for international visitors. Reduced rates apply for East African Community citizens (around $200) and for other African citizens or foreign residents in Africa (around $500). Permits should be secured 3–6 months in advance through a licensed operator or the Rwanda Development Board.

Best Time to Visit

The long dry season (June–September) and short dry season (December–February) offer the best trekking conditions.

Getting There

Kigali International Airport is the main gateway, with a scenic 2.5–3 hour drive to the Kinigi/Musanze area at the base of Volcanoes National Park.

Tanzania

The Serengeti migration, Ngorongoro Crater, Kilimanjaro, and Zanzibar.

Permits

  • Park fees & conservation permits

Serengeti, Ngorongoro, and Kilimanjaro all carry separate park and conservation fees that vary by season and length of stay. We build these into every proposal so operators see the all-in cost up front, with no surprises at settlement.

Best Time to Visit

January–March for the Great Migration calving season in the southern Serengeti; June–August for river crossings in the north. Kilimanjaro climbs are best January–March and June–October.

Getting There

Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and Arusha serve the northern circuit; given the distances between parks, we frequently coordinate internal flights alongside road transfers to maximize time in the field.

Madagascar

Lemurs, baobabs, and reserves found nowhere else on Earth.

Permits

  • National park & reserve entrance fees

Madagascar National Parks charges per-park entrance and mandatory local guide fees rather than a single tracking permit system. Fees vary by reserve and length of visit — we confirm and build these into every proposal so operators see the all-in cost up front.

Best Time to Visit

April–November (dry season) offers the most reliable trail access across the island's reserves. September–November also aligns with lemur birthing season in several parks.

Getting There

Ivato International Airport (Antananarivo) is the main gateway. Madagascar's reserves are spread across a large island with limited road infrastructure, so we typically combine internal flights with road transfers depending on the circuit.
